Studio Garden
The family’s needs and use of the garden are changing from climbing frame and play equipment, to wanting more seating spaces to enjoy the outdoors. A large Oak tree is a focal point of the garden, creating areas of light and shade, giving scope for a fresh planting scheme with plants suitable for both sunspots and the shadier conditions.

Design
A contemporary cedar clad garden studio provides covered seating at the end of the garden. The building can also be used as an outdoor office. New Indian sandstone paving is laid outside the studio, and the terrace near the house is increased to allow for a larger entertaining space.
Linking the two terraces together, low seating walls faced with quartz cladding form decorative features. These are lit with LED strip lights underneath the coping for effective lighting at night.
Drought and shade tolerant plants such as Hellebores, Euphorbia robbiaie and Phlomis russeliana are good, year round ground cover beneath the Oak.
