Shaded Garden

This garden needed a  fresh look at the areas for outdoor dining and relaxing. Large bifold windows look out from the kitchen/living area so it is important that the garden looks interesting throughout the year. The clients want to make a feature of a treasured, existing blossom tree.

Composite decking is brought to level threshold, easing the transition to the outdoors, and providing a bigger space for entertaining on family occasions.

The main dining terrace is paved with grey granite, which is also used to build the decking steps, tying the two areas together visually.

An existing outdoor office provides a backdrop, edged with a new border of culinary herbs, Rosemary, Thyme and Oregano.

A second, smaller granite paved terrace for relaxed seating is backed by horizontal slatted softwood trellis with evergreen Jasmin, Trachelospermum jasminoides which has a wonderful fragrance on a summer’s evening.

With the blossom tree serving as the focal point,  a path to the shed and utility area of the garden is laid with random sized paving stones set in pebbles, and planted with dwarf conifers and the Mind your own business plant,  Soleirolia grows between the gaps.
