Pool Garden
The mature garden with a swimming pool was mostly laid to lawn. An overgrown Rhododendron hedge occupied a large area at the end of the garden. A new layout was needed to create a path to the pool and space for relaxing after a swim. Generous borders proportionate to the size of the garden were needed to balance with the large lawn, which is used for sport by the family’s teenage children.

Design
An Indian sandstone path, flanked on both sides by borders filled with Nepeta, grasses and Anthemis, connects the pool with the garden and leads to a terrace for sunloungers and a firepit.
Towards the end of the garden, the old shrubs were replaced with plants for a display of colour and structure lasting into later summer through to winter.
In the newly opened-up shaded area, an open summer house was built, surrounded by a woodland garden planted with Silver birch, Ferns and Hellebores
