Designing a brand new garden can feel like a daunting task, however Louise’s professional step by step
approach helps to bring your outdoor space to life, from concept to completion:

Initial Meeting

To get a sense of the garden and surroundings, we talk through your wishes and ideas for the new design and explore possibilities. This meeting is followed up with a garden design proposal, which sets out for you, the brief and quote for design fees.

Site Survey

Once we have agreed the scope, full measurements of the space are taken, with careful assessment of the nature of the garden, local conditions, soil, aspect and any level changes. This survey is then converted into a scaled plan of the garden.

Garden Design Concept

The design is worked up to concept stage, which will include the proposed new layout, details of any hard landscaping that is needed, and an outline of the planting scheme. At this point we will consider options for features in the garden, which could be anything from an outdoor room to a pergola, water feature, planters, sculpture and ideas for lighting.

Landscaping

Once you are happy with the design, the landscaping layout and specification is produced. We meet with the team of highly skilled, reputable landscapers who will use this document to quote for the landscaping build. During construction, I offer a site monitoring service to liaise between client and landscaper to ensure that the process runs smoothly.

Planting and the New Garden

Full planting plans are drawn up to follow on from garden construction. As a specialist in planting design, the plants are personally selected from a range of local nurseries to suit each garden’s needs and ensure the best quality are supplied. They are combined for maximum impact, which improves year on year, saving you from costly experiments at the garden centre.

Planting plans are designed to ensure the garden can be enjoyed year round and to maximise its attraction to wildlife.

I love revisiting clients and their gardens.  During the season following planting, I visit to check how everything is settling and growing.  Seasonal visits can be arranged, but if anything crops up in between, I am always available for ongoing advice.
